Who is the person on my field that I admire?

How do you do!

Today, I would like to talk about a person I admire. The truth is that I admire many people, but today I chose Zaha Hadid.

زها محمد حديد, commonly called Zaha Hadid. She was born on October 31, 1950 in Baghdad, Iraq. Her family belonged a high-class Arab Sunni.

She studied at a Catholic French School, in Baghdad. Then, in Switzerland and Great Britain.
In 1868, Hadid studied Mathematics at the American University of Beirut (Middle East) and then, in London, studied architecture at the Architectural Association of London. In 1979 she created an architecture studio in London and was a professor at the Architectural Association.
She died in March 2016 in Miami of a heart attack.

She was the first woman to receive the Pritzker Prize for Architecture in 2004, she also received other awards such as the Mies van der Rohe (2003) and the Praemium Imperiale (2009).

I like she because I feel that she shows a different way of doing architecture, in this case, with curves.

I like the fluency of her works, the delicacy and naturality of the forms, as if she dropped a handkerchief and described each of the curves done by the wind. This architecture I like it, when it is escapes from the straight lines and plays with the movements. And, it's important to note, that this is not coincidence, because, she dominated the math’s, that means that the logic and the calculations these must have been very present throughout her life.

Well, here ends today's blog, and you, who do you admire?

My favourite subject

Hi, everyone!

Today I tell you about my favourite subject in Architecture this semester.
I refer to "Morphology, structure and materialization"..

In the classes, we learn about constructions and how these provide comfort to humans, depending on the materials and present conditions such as the environment. In addition, the subject talks about fundamental issues of the structuring of a building, from its composition to the calculations that will allow it to be more resistant and support different resistances such as, for example, earthquakes.

I like this topic, because it gives useful information about different structures, taking into account the needs of people. Also, I like it because the treatment of the teachers is very kind and I enjoy attending classes.

My teachers are two architects, the female teacher talks about the structure and the male teacher about morphology. Both are very nice and always respond with a smile when someone has a doubt.

In general, this subject has been very interesting and fun, we have done practical and theoretical work, added to several activities. I have learned a lot and I hope to continue learning.

Attached photo of the first work we did. I hope you like it. See you!

A photograph that I like it

Hi!

Today, I'll tell you a little about a photograph that I like it.
I took the picture years ago. it was it was cloudy, and I came back from school when I suddenly saw it.

In the photo, we see to Link, a cat white with orange, lying on a dirty bag. and why? who know?
Well, I just imagined that the cat really wanted to sleep and that was the result. In fact, I think that the sound of the rain, earlier that day, it helped to that Link will relax.

And well, due to it is that I like this photo. It reminds me the days of school, the rain, when I was return to my home and to Link. I also remember my burlesque side, that it found the natural form of its posture fun, even showing its teeth without concern ... I think that was what motivated me to take the photo: the spontaneity that Link already enjoyed life. Well, I hope you have also noticed it.

See you!

Environment and my career

Hi, what's new?

In this chapter, I'll tell you about climate change and how it relates to architecture.

The architecture was created to protect us from the inclemency of the climate and it has been adapted over time, combining design and functionality. However, many times these constructions have not respected the environment, destroying ecosystems, soils, forests and much more just to obtain new materials and lands, producing more carbon footprint, more greenhouse effect and, consequently, anomalies in the climate.

In this sense, both climate and architecture affect each other. The climate in the design of buildings, either to protect us from it or to use it in our favor, as in the production of renewable energies, while architecture influences the climate by producing greenhouse gases, which are expected to decrease each more time.

In Chile, consciousness has changed little by little. An example of this is the use of the bicycle (replacement of the car), the use of the gender bag (replacement of the plastic bag), the community orchards, among others.

Undoubtedly, we are changing and the architecture too, considering that climate is an important factor. For this reason, the protagonist is now sustainability, produces less pollution and thinks about the future, opening a world of possibilities in architecture without compromising our environment in a negative way.

The end of this entry has arrived, what do you think about it and what are you doing now to take care of our environment?

My Favourite piece of technology

Hi, how are you doing?

Well, in this occasion I tell you about my favourite piece of technology, in this case, is my cell phone.

I got it 3 years ago, my old cell phone died and I needed a new one.

I use it for many things, in fact, I'm surprised of the versatility of the device: I send emails, I see videos, I listen to music, I read and many other activities.

I use it often, mainly in my free time.

I like it because is portable, easy of use and the storage capacity that this possesses, the latter is really useful.

If you asking me, what my life would be like without it, well, I would probably answer, that for me I would not be the end of the world. I feel that I can live without it and I would adapt to how I lived before its arrival, although ... I would definitely miss it, for all the facilities it offers, mainly because it saves a lot of time by being multifunctional.

Well, this is my favourite piece of technology, and yours?

Why did you choose this career/study programme?

Hi, see you again!

Today I will tell you about of my dreams when I was little...

Since I was a little girl I have always liked the different areas, from the arts to the exact sciences. In this sence, inventing objects that could be useful was one of my hobbies, and, Jimmy Newtron with The Dexter Lab, they contributed to this, well, several fictional characters have influenced me, I even thought about creating animations of different genres.

As I grew up, my dreams changed a little, I thought about being a math teacher because I liked studying and teaching to others, but the different languages as a means of communication and access to different cultures also I liked. In the end, I decided on Speech Therapy. I had formed a close relationship with deaf people since I was 12 years old and career seemed like an option, however, at the end of the year... I discovered that I no longer wanted to be a Speech Therapist.

After a while, I went back to studying, but this time, Pedagogy in Maths and Physics. I met very nice people, but in vocational terms, I no longer felt capable of teaching, so I resigned and the following year I chose Architecture.

It was a long way before reaching this career, there are times when it has not been easy, but despite that, I can say that I feel comfortable studying it and in a certain sense, all the accumulated experiencies have been a great contribution. I still don't fully decide what to do, I just hope to be friendly with the environment and not pigeonhole my imagination.

See you soon!
